Book Studies

Peace by Piece

This book club series examines how to support children and others who have experienced trauma and/or abuse. We look carefully at how to respond to people who may be having a trauma reaction, strategies to support them where they are and methods to help them process and move forward in their growth. This series is often done as an 8-month series with the opening and closing sessions as 3.5-hour trainings and the 6 monthly sessions as 90-minute trainings. These can be done face to face, virtually or in a blended model.

Forward Facing for Educators

A Journey to Professional Resilience and Compassion Restoration: As we work hard to take care of the needs of others, we often forget the most important strategies of caring for ourselves. This book study model looks at multiple strategies (beyond the obvious eating right, sleeping right and exercising regularly) that will ensure we can avoid burning out and the dreaded feeling of compassion fatigue. This series is often done as an 8-month series with the opening and closing sessions as 3.5-hour trainings and the 6 monthly sessions as 90-minute trainings. These can be done face to face, virtually or in a blended model.

Besides the monthly sessions, these book studies can be adapted to meet the needs of your organization as half-day or full-day consecutive days, or days spread out over the course of a year.
